Games that come with XP Gone.

I deleted the games from start up and now I can't get them back They are not
in programs, accessories, etc. I have
checked in add/remove windows components under
accessories/utilities/games/details and the games are there, but I have tried
over and over to check and uncheck and reload and it appears to do
"something" configure components but to no avail no games still. Now it's
asking for XP CD Service Pack2 but since I have XP Service Pack 1, which came
with my pc I don't have a CD with Service Pack 2 on it. What do I do? Do I
reinstall XP Service Pack 1 and do all of the Service Pack 2 updates?? It's
not just for the games, I have created a mess it seems in other areas, trying
to get these silly games to work again.

Thank you in advance for any help you can offer.

Are you restarting Windows betwen unchecking the games in Add/Remove
Programs and reentering ADD/Remove Programs to recheck them? You should
then be restarting Windows again.

Windows XP Service Pack Two includes additional security updates beyond
those distributed in Service Pack One. You have the option of
downloading the service pack through your internet connection or
ordering a free CD from Microsoft. Microsoft doesn't even charge for
shipping and handling to customers in the continual United States
(possibly in aome other areas). Most people have no problems after
installing the service pack and have little reason to report their
success on these forums, so the reports you see represent a vocal
minority. Even if you aren't making a significant operating system
upgrade it's wise to maintain the media and product ID codes to
reinstall your operating system, media and product codes to reinstall
your applications and backups of your email address book and other
personnal data.

Service Pack Two is supposed to include the updates that Service Pack
One provided, as well as updates released betwen the two service packs.
You should not need to install Service Pack One if you have plans to
immediately install Service Pack Two.

Make sure the Windows XP firewall or a third party firewall is enabled
before logging onto the internet.
