games and accessories missing after .NET Framework 2.0 / 3.0 updat

After installing the .NET Framework 2.0 & 3.0 update, I am now missing the
entire Games folder and many items from the Accessories folder - most notably
the Character Map. System is XP Home 2002 SP2 running antivirus, spyware,
windows defender, etc.

Any help would be greatly appreciated as we are going into withdrawals
without Freecell and Spider Solitare :) Thanks.

The Add/Remove app in Control Panel will let you remove, then Add the games
again. You simply uncheck the checkbox for games (see 'details' buttons), OK,
and restart to recheck, OK. The Character Map is likewise in the
"Accessories/details" area, for the same trick.
