Game troubles

My cd games used to work, but now everytime I put the cd
game in my computer, I get this message:

eng.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. We
are sorry for the inconvenience.

So, I am unable to play the games. Any suggestions?

What game is this? Is this all games? Have you installed the latest
drivers for your video card? Are you up to date on
http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com ?

you posted. It seems that after I downloaded some
updates from Microsoft.com, I started having trouble with
my games.

Hey Fantasia,
I too downloaded updates from Microsoft.com. I think it was the "Service
Pack 2" and "DirectX 9.0c". Now none of my games are working, specifically
"Madden 2003" and "NASCAR THUNDER 2004". They worked before and now they get
the error message "Microsoft® Madden 2003 has encountered a problem and needs
to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience." and like an idiot I didn't
create a Restore Point before I did the updates.
