GAME CRASHES ALOT

I recently had to re format my hard drive and re install windows because of the increasing amount of spyware bugs and errors on the system. Anyway after re installing windows xp and installing some of my usual games including ut 2004 i experience the same crash! What happens is that while im playing the game it crashes emitting this horiible screeching like sound from the speakers, the noise then turns into the repeating sounds over and over again from the game (i.E car noises gun firing etc) Sometimes it crashes right away when i start UT up or some time after 5-10 minutes while playing. I have got all the windows updates. I have all the latest drivers for my sound card and video card etc, and i have re installeed windows FRESH!, i have latest directx and there is no hardware problem that iam aware of... SO WHAT CAN IT BE?

CAN SOMEONE PLEASE REPLY ASAP..THANKS

Yup. I'd suspect chipset drivers. Also check your game patches. I know
UT2004 has one patch already and there's one in beta right now.

I had crash problems when I updated my graphics card with old OEM ramboards.
Using MemTest, do a test of your ram. I had to upgrade to Kingston boards
before I cured my problem [the mobo and chipset is involved...my ABIT mobo
was noted for instability with cheap ramboards]. Latest chipset drivers
should help. It all started when I graduated into directx 9b games.
