GAL Columns pick and choose?

Is it possible to modify the field headings as listed in the GAL, the
defaults being name, phone, Office, Title Company etc.

I want to drop the office field and instead include the department
information, I know how to edit the info for the users but the actual Global
address list as seen by all clients only shows certain default fields.

any help would be greatly apprecitated.
