G4 can't find Epson Expression 636 with VueScan

My G4 with OS 10.3.7 with VueScan says no scanner connected. I turned
both off. Gave time Turned scanner on. Gave time. No help. My system
profiler says scanner is plugged into the following.

I had trouble with an Epson Perfection 3200 Photo scanner. I e-mailed
Epson support from their web site, and received a prompt and helpful
reply. In my case, they told be to uninstall the software and then
download and install newer drivers from their site. Apparently there
are compatability issues for Epson and OS X.
