Fuzzy letters

All the lettering on my computer has developed shadowing that makes
everything look fuzzy. This happened suddenly and nothing I do will restore
the normal clear type-face. This occurs both in Word and on the internet.
Somebody has checked out my computer from a distance and it look OK from his
computer. Could the problem be with my monitor - i.e. do I need a new monitor?

Borrow a different monitor so as to check to see if your monitor is starting
to fail. If the "second" monitor is displaying the characters correctly, then
it would mean that your monitor is to be replaced.

Remote access to your PC will not determine if the monitor, or video card, is
failing, since the display is happening on a different PC.

You may have turned on "Cleartype" by mistake. See
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/306527/en-us
("Cleartype" isn't -- for non LCD screens)
