Images on Windows XP Home Edition look fuzzy

Hello Everybody,
I'm quite new to the XP world so please be little
soft in answering my question.
I bought a new laptop recently and I see that the images look quite
fuzzy (I mean not very clear). Everything else looks quite good but the
images are really very poor. Does anyone know the reason? Am I missing any
settings?

Thanks,
Aarkoti

Which imaging program are you using to view those images? Have zoomed the
images to full size?

Actually this problem is happening on IE. I'm not talking about pictures but
about the images on websites. Even Google images looks kinnda funny. Any clue?

Thanks,

Try reinstalling Internet Explorer then:
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=258893

If that does not work, try viewing the image at 32 bit resolution, right
click and empty spot on your desktop > Properties > Settings (tab) > Color
quality > click in the box and select (Highest (32 bit).

Are they big images? Try turning off Tools/Internet
Options/Advanced/Enable automatic image resizing.

These are regular images that you see when you load a web page. I tried your
suggestion but no luck.

Andre,
I could not find instruction on how to uninstall IE 6.0 in the link
that you provided. Also by image resolution is at 32 bit already.

You're probably viewing them at more that 100% resolution, which
would make them pixilated.

How can I check if I'm viewing them at more than 100% resolution? I did reset
the web settings and I still see the same problem. Some where else someone
suggested to check if the system files where overriden using sfc /scannow.
Still cannot see any difference.

Most likely one is that the screen resolution you are using is not the
'native' one of the laptop, where triads of screen dots are assigned
exactly one to each pixel of the screen. Most laptops these days have
1024x768 screens; check in Control Panel - Display - Settings that this
is what the display is set to

Thanks for all your replies guys. Finally I found the problem... As Al Smith
rightly pointed out my settings were in such a manner that the images got
stretched to 125%
which is set in my display properties (DPI was set to 120 which I reverted
back to 96).

Glad it worked for you.
