Ok I read here http://aumha.org/win5/a/xpvm.htm great read but left me
further confused

Problem-
Home PC that runs general MS Office applications without problems. Kids
then use for games now and then, and then I get virtual memory messages.

What I did-
opened up VM settings left C Drive as system managed
Changed D drive (seperate drive) to custom with min 2 max 4000 - left no
paging unticked
it also recomends that I have 1150 min at the bottom

Normally when I use the D drive I hear it - after changing the settings I
could not hear it and did not see a difference.

One installation of XP in a computer with two drives? If that's the case
the rule is to place the main portion of the page file on the most used
partition of the least used drive. Leave a small page file on C: with an
initial size of 2MB and a Maximum of 50MB.

For the main page file on the D: drive set the minimum much larger than 2MB,
to what is normally used, and the maximum to a size greater than what the
system ever uses. Download one of the utilities referenced in that
virtual memory article that monitors actual page file usage, to give you an
idea how big to set the page file.

If the error only appears when running certain games you could also check on
the game manufacturer's web sites for any info.
