Funny symbol

Sometimes when I click on to get a web page, instead I
get this funny symbol. Its a little square containing a
little red square, green circle, and blue triangle. What
does it mesn?

You get it if the picture link can't be displayed eg if your settings
prohibit the displaying of pictures or the link is broken

Apologies....Correction.... If the link is broken you get the red cross. You
get that symbol depending on your browser settings / while the image is
being loaded / and depending on which browser you're using

I am using Internet Explorer. Which browser setting would
I change? I miss a lot of internet stuff beacause of this.

Try (in Internet Explorer) Tools > Internet Options > Advanced

Scroll down to the multimedia section and put check marks by
Show pictures
Play animations
