Functionality of Windows 2000 Professional without NIC card

As I no longer need networking, and could use a USB 2.0 card, I'd like to take the NIC card out and use the slot for the USB 2.0 card. (There are no more slots, so just adding the USB 2.0 card isn't an option.) Has anyone done this? What functions of Windows 2000 Professional are lost? As I said, I no longer care about networking, but will I lose other important/useful functions? Would it be better to get another operating system?

Windows 2000 Pro should work just fine with no NIC as long as you don not
want to connect to a network.

As Marc has stated it wont affect anything. Before you remove the card
itself go in the device manager and remove (uninstall) it from Windows.

and if you do need to get on a network you can use a USB NIC or WiFi
card
