Function Key not working with vista

Hi,

I purchased compaq presario v3004au in dec. 2006. It was working excellent
with genuine windows xp home. Last week i purchased genuine windows vista
home premium and now, I have 1 problem since then. Sometimes when I start my
computer, the computer behaves in such a way as if the function key is
pressed. When I restart the laptop a couple of times, the problem is
resolved. The problem happens every other day and it happens in every
program, whether it is internet explorer or office 2007.

I don't understand. Is this due to VISTA or something has gone wrong with my
hardware? Please help.

Hi Asif,

At a guess I'd say there is a problem with the keyboard driver. Have you
checked the HP/Compaq site for an updated one for your system? HP lists
several driver updates for that model and Windows Vista:

Look up your model presario on the HP website and see if it has any
drivers for use with VISTA or only for up to XP.

If not you have run into one of the problems with changing OS's in
either direction -- the manufacturer doesn't issue files except for the
version as delivered.

You may be able to find a sufficiently similar model that comes with
VISTA and use its files but .....

..... it looks like you are lucky and there are plenty of VISTA files
for that model:

You could try the Quick Launch pack or you could ask HP/Compaq which to
use.
