Full screen mode default

I have installed IE6 and made a bad choice. I chose the FULL SCREEN mode.
Now every IE window opens in the full screen mode. I must manually use the
F11 or the View to get the screen to give all the info.

How do I change IE6 to always give me the standard screen first, rather than
the Full Screen mode.

Hi Ernie :)

You don't tell us what version of Windos you have, but, you might try the
following and see if it helps:

To turn off full-screen mode and switch to the previous view, click Close
Full Screen on the Full Screen toolbar (toolbar: A bar with buttons and
options that you use to carry out commands. To display a toolbar, press ALT
and then SHIFT+F10.), or press ESC.

also....

Open IE and go to Tools>Internet Options>Advanced tab
Check the Reset all Defaults tab.
Close IE and reopen...see if that returns normal view

Hope this helps.

These procedures do not work. I am using XP Pro with all the updates. Using
IE6. Sure would like to get the preference changed. I hate to keep pressing
F11 on every new IE screen.
Thanks for all.

If you have a Restore point to a date prior to the time you started having
the problem, then follow the instructions below to restore your system to
that time.

Windows XP System Restore Is Easy to Use
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/helpandsupport/getstarted/ballew_03may19.mspx

If you do not have a restore date, or it does not work, then do the
following. Follow all instructions carefully:

First, disable your AV:

XP

SP2 section:
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=318378#XSLTH3130121123120121120120

The section
Windows XP and Windows XP SP1: Edit the registry and install Internet
Explorer 6 works on earlier versions of Windows.

Be sure to visit Windows Update site and let it scan for all needed updates
and service packs afterward.

Hope this helps.

Please don't try a restore point yet. Try this.

Run regedit and remove these registry key values which are most likely
corrupted:

HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main\window_placement

HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet
Explorer\Desktop\OldWorkAreas\OldWorkAreaRects

Then reboot.

If this means anything more than "I used F11 once", explain.

Now every IE window opens in the full screen mode.

That is unusual; however, I have seen it at least during the same session.
Just as with any normal window closing, opening the next one shows
the attributes of the old one.

I must manually use the
F11 or the View to get the screen to give all the info.

Close the window in normal mode and make sure that it is the last
IE window closed in that mode (e.g. check with Task Manager
that there are no more iexplore.exe processes running.)
Then when you open the next instance of iexplore.exe it should have
the attributes of that normal window.

To doublecheck that the new window is not being influenced by either
your method of starting it or by the URL used by your Home page
test the saved attributes by Run... (e.g. press Win-R and enter:)

iexplore.exe -nohome

Tell us what you see then. Then press Esc (to allow your toolbar
customizations, etc. to run) and tell us what happens.

To prevent Internet Explorer from opening in full screen mode by default open
regedit and navigate to the following key:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main. In the
right-hand pane you will see a number of value names listed. Double click
the value name FullScreen. In the resulting edit string dialogue box under
value data change the entry from yes to no.
