Full Duplex / Half Duplex

I'm curious where I can verify what duplex (full/half) my network card
is using to communicate with my router. The card is set to auto-sense.
I want to confirm it has negotiated a full duplex connection.
IPCONFIG /ALL does not show this information nor does the properties
for the card, where can I see it?

Dennis,

What on earth for?

You aren't on a network where there is a lot of traffic so why bother?

Because "knowing is half the battle!!!!!"

....I am studying for MCSE and CCNA exams. Besides that, I've run into
duplexing problems in the past on my home network. It is something
that you should be able to check/test, and I would like a reminder of
how you do it in XP.

If you can flip the switch see what happens with half and then with full.
Any difference?

There must be a way within XP to check what duplexing mode your
network card is using... anyone know?

Start | Network Connections
Select the nic card you're interested in.
Right click | Properties
General tab. Click Configure.
Select Speed & Duplex

Read the value. Mine's set to "Auto"

I guess that it's running whatever it negotiated with the switch, if
the switch port is also set to Auto.

Good luck.
