FTP

Kevin Steen

This is my first post to a newsgroup, so I apologize in
advance for improper technical language. I'm trying to
set up an ftp server - I have a desktop running XP Pro.
I installed IIS, and selected the ftp check box, and I
can start and stop the ftp server. However, I cannot
connect / logon to the ftp server from my computer at
home. I have a static IP address (via Verizon DSL), and
I have a Linksys 4 port wireless router which I have
enabled port 21 on, and I have entered the correct DHCP
ip address of my desktop that is the ftp server. I have
disabled anonymous logons - but have noticed that the box
to add ftp site operators is grayed out - I cannot get to
it / I cannot add ftp site operators. (When I tried to
logon, I used the a WinXP user ID & password, and was not
allowed to logon). Does anyone know how to do this / can
anyone offer advice on what I'm doing wrong? Also, where
can I find documentation on this? THANKS!!

This may help - specify your username as COMPUTERNAME\USERNAME when
connecting.... I need to do this with a Win2K3 FTP Service (although
I do enable anonymous R/O access)
