maybe not strictly a FrontPage problem,
but there is intelligence here - far beyond me......

I am running FP2003 on an XP-pro machine
through a LinkSys router over a cable modem...
( all firewalls are off )
trying to connect to a Windows 2003 server,
running 2002 extensions ( so the tell me ).

my FP tells me that extensions are not running,
and I can periodically connect using FP's FTP client,
and periodically using WS_FTP and never through
my browsers IE 6 FTP....
I can periodically connect to the actual web site
http://198.96.220.8/

once connected - I seldom can reconnect
** FP -- FTP -- HTTP --- time-out

I NEVER have a problem connecting to other
sites I manage using FP or WS_FTP

the host people say this is MY problem,
since others "seem" to have no problem connecting
by any means.............

If you have FP extensions enabled web host/site, you should not use third party FTP to publish. YOu should use File | Publish Web (Site) http://youwebsitename.xxx otherwise using FTP will break the extensions.

I can not connect to your site with FP2000, so the issue is server related, not local to your
machine. Also having the ability to connect via FTP, has nothing whatsoever to do with connecting
via FP's http mode other than the server is available.

Your host to need to repair the extensions, and if you want to use the extensions, do not use FTP to
connect.
