FTP to AOL from FP2003

I've the connection established from FrontPage to AOL via FTP and everything
looks as expected on the AOL side, but FP will only allow me to download from
AOL. When I try an upload it reports a 550 error and that "guests" can only
download. The AOL people said to talk to Microsoft, since they "don't
support the use of FP".

fyi: when I do the permissions stuff I enter a NAME of "ftp" and a PASSWORD
of "(e-mail address removed)"

Any ideas appreciated.

I could upload to AOL but not download. Create a duplicate copy of your
website everytime you upload it to your AOL site. Use a copy of your copy to
modify before you upload to AOL. In other words, always have a copy
reflecting what is on your AOL site. You can use the File Import but you
will lose your Navigation and your shared borders will be messed up.

There are ways to work around AOL's problems.

Good Luck!

A copy of a copy?
Triple redundancy!
Unnecessary!
If you create a disk based web, you already have a copy on your HD.

Okay, what if you modify your copy and you mess up! How are you going to get
it back to the original? You cannot download it from AOL. Tell me what you
would do?

Redundant Sue!

AOL only allows one way transfers????

If you publish to any server that doesn't have the FP extensions, and use Themes and/or FP
navigation components, and you later need to download the copy from the server because you lost your
local copy, etc. you will have to reapply your theme (hopefully you are still using the same version
of FP and have not modified the current theme) and recreate your FP navigation structure since the
configuration information for these items is not maintained on non-extensions site.

Susan's approach is a excellent.

Geez, the best way to solve an AOL problem is to dump the brain dead
overpriced crap.
