FTP host becomes inaccessible if placed behind router

I made neccessary OS settings to set up WWW server and FTP server on a
WXP Pro system. It was connected to internet without using router and
both servers were confirmed to be accessible from a client through internet.

Then the PC were placed behind a router and the neccessary port
forwardings with the router were made and exceptions with WXP firewall
were added. The WWW server were confirmed still accessible but the FTP
server became unaccessible. The host PC was then DMZed and the firewall
was turned off but still to no avail.

Please help.

Hi,

You can try also enabling (forwarding) the port 20 (21) for the FTP server
on the router. If that does not help, try enabling (or disabling) passive
ftp mode in advanced internet options for internet explorer. Internet
Explorer is usually very sensitive when you are trying to access FTP that
resides behind a router. Also check if there are any additional settings for
the router or if you configured the IP addresses and ports correctly.

Add to Anton, if you have Windows Firewall enabled try to Turn it OFF and if
you have an Anti-Virus with Internet Firewall try to Open or allow the Port
21(20) an Access and Enable the Passive FTP.
Hope this Helps

Thanks, Anton and nass, for your responses.
The solution found to be *disabling* "Passive FTP mode"(it was
originally set Enabled).

Thank you so very much for your help.
