FTP does not work

I am having trouble getting FTP working. I just got a
new computer with XP.

My old computer with 98 can connect with my isp and use
ftp, email, ie etc.

My new computer can connect with my isp and use email,
ie, but not ftp. FTP.exe does not connect, ftp://
through ie does not connect. Even with firewall and
virusscan disabled. Passive ftp enabled, view ftp as
folders enabled.

Is there something else to check? Getting very
frustrated.

I have the same problem, I have a new Dell PC (dimension 8300) with XP and cannot make any sort of FTP connection. I have the FTP port on McAfee firewall allowed open, and have also tried connecting with firewall disabled. But it doesn't work. Have tried a variety of FTP programs as well as Internet Explorer. I too have selected passive, and tried everything else I can think of.

Im really stuck.
