I am trying to install the server extensions for Frontpage 2002, but the error message, "You do not have Microsoft Interenet Information Server (IIS) 4.0 or greater installed. Please install IIS 4.0 or greater before installing the Server Extension." I was wondering if im doing something wrong, or where i can get IIS from. Thank you all very much for your help

The FP2002 extensions are only available for Windows 2000 and XP, and will
not install on PWS. You can only get IIS if your purchase Windows 2000 Pro,
Windows 2000 Server, Windows XP Pro, Windows 2003 Server.

Yes, you must have XP Pro to use IIS and the FP2000 extensions are installed
by default, but then must be configured.

If you install Windows XP Pro, you can then install IIS 5.1 by going to the
Control Panel | Add/Remove Programs | Add/Remove Windows Components. You'll
see Internet Information Services (IIS) listed as one of the components.
After you install IIS, definitely head to windowsupdate.microsoft.com to
make sure all the security patches available for IIS are installed.

Hope this helps,

On this topic Thomas, I have recently upgraded to XP Pro, what advantages
would I gain by installing IIS and the FP2000 extensions..? I am using
FP2000 BTW.

If your site is hosted on a Windows IIS server then have a server locally
will allow you to test ASP based or other server based application locally
as well as test some of the FP run-time components that require the
extensions.

Thanks for that, my host is running unix (Linux) so I don't suppose
there's any advantage.
