FSB Speed (memory)

Can anyone confirm that you can mismatch memory FSB speeds with CPU FSB
speeds?

I accidentally ordered 800Mhz DDR2 after ordering a 533Mhz FSB P4
processor. Will the faster memory still work? As I understand it, the
FSB will simply run at 533Mhz instead of the higher rating the memory
was designed for... The mobo of course supports 533/800Mhz bus speeds..

Just checking my facts!

Thanks,

Mike

You are correct however with a decent BIOS, you can use the 800MHz DDR2
at 800MHz whilst still running the processor at 533.

Do a benchmark(aquamark, 3DMark2001 SE) and check the performance
difference. When I was running a 333mhz fsb with PC3200, My performance
degraded 700 points if I ran the memory at 400mhz instead of 333
