FS2004 and Directx9

Trying to load Flight Simulator 2004. It won't load
because I don't have Directx9. When I try to download
Directx9, I get some kind of error message and it shuts my
system down. I tried 6 times with the same result.
FS 2000 Professional loads with no problems.
So I can't load FS2004 because I can't download Directx9...
Can anyone help me?
