FS X Splash Screen Lock Up

I just got Flight Simulator X today and I have been struggling all day to run
it. I get it to install (but it doesn't show up in the program files). When
I activate it and hit OK the splash screen comes up and starts loading the
scenery. Once it finishes the splash screen locks up and the window pops up
saying Flight Simulator has Stopped Working. I just tried the demo and it is
doing the same thing.

My system specs:
Dual Core AMD 64x2 3ghz
2.5gb RAM
GeForce 8600 256mb

My system runs some system demanding games just fine, I just can't
understadn why it won't run FS X (it runs FS2004 just fine). Thanks for the
help.
