Frustrated

I am having a hard time getting my outlook to send or receive my emails from
my accounts. Here is one of the error message I received. "The server could
not be found. (Account: 'Hotmail Mail'. SMTP Server; 'SMPT', Error Number
0x800ccc0d)."

I also received same message with yahoo with error message 0x800ccc0e

Could it be POP3? does anyone know if yahoo and hotmail is POP3 or what
selection I need to make at the account set-up stage?

What am I doing wrong? Please help.

Disable your Anti Virus incoming and outgoing email scanning and integration. Your resident AV will still catch everything that wants to come in.

You need the Outlook Connector installed to use Hotmail (if you use a
version of Outlook which supports it which you don't mention) in Outlook.
Yahoo requires a paid POP3 email account.

Check Office Update to download the Outlook Connector.

Thanks Bill and sorry for omitting the version of outlook that I currently
use. I'm using office 2000.

Hotmail doesn't allow POP access.

Is it a paid Yahoo account in the United States? Yahoo doesn't allow POP
access in the U.S> for free accounts.

Since you said in a later post that you're using Outlook 2000, you should be
aware that Outlook 2000 doesn't have the ability to access Hotmail at all
except for this method (which isn't really Outlook):
