I am having a major problem.
I had a reseller account with 9 net ave/XO/Concentric for 8 years.
I was able to add domains, get individual IP addresses, frontpage extensions
worked fine.
I could go to the web site click on edit with frontpage, make changes to my
sites in seconds. All was well. Had it all dialed nicely.
Today I checked my bank card and I see they had doubled the monthly fee from
49 to 99 bucks. They want people to leave this server so they can close it
down, didn't bother to notify me. " I should have gotten an email"
I was told I could migrate my domains to a new Concentric server and it
would be only about 15 dollars a month. Had to move each individual
domain.Transfer files, set up new emails, etc.
It got complicated, and the guy was very helpful, I just hope he knew what
he was doing, we were on the phone for 140 minutes( in addition to my hold
time of 35 minutes before speaking to anyone) then emailed back and forth
all day as I uploaded the web sites to the new server and he helped me get
the files set up. Turns out all my domains are now listed under one main
domain.
He is telling me that because I use frontpage all my domains have to be sub
domains of my main domain ( on this server anyway)
so when I want to make one simple change to any of my web sites I have to
reload the entire file, which contains ALL 7 domains. This takes about 1
hour or more, dont really know since it gets about 1/3 of the way and knocks
me out.
So now all the web sites that were migrated are screwed up, no navigation,
my main web site and my main page have the directory hanging out for all to
see, the index page for my main page lost.
I called them back, and now my hope at this point is that they can restore
my previous account. It was only an hour or so since the guy whacked my old
account, so hopefully they can bring it back in tact.
As I was uploading the files from each domain I would get an error message
that the server did NOT have front page extensions, but the guy said to
ignore that because it does have front page extensions.
Question, does anyone know of a good place to host my web sites that uses
front page extensions and gives me individual IP addresses for my web sites.
An account like my old one? Where I can edit individual web sites with out
having to go thought this major deal every uploading this gigantic file to
the server, seems very silly and a huge waste of time.
Another thing they guy kept pushing was to use other software , such as
dreamweaver, and make new sites, that way I can edit the web sites
individually on their server.
I get the feeling they don't like frontage want to make it as complicated as
possible for people using FrontPage.
Any comments, ideas...... suggestions
