FrontPage2000

While using FrontPage 2000 it stopped working, and locked
up Windows98-2nd edition.

Whenever I try to install or uninstall FrontPage2000 I get
the following message from Windows Installer:
Another version of this product is already installed.
Installation of this version cannot continue. To configure
or remove the existing version of this product use
Add/Remove Programs from the Control Panel.

Just to be clear you're getting this message when you remove it?

And?
Did you use Control Panel to uninstall FP before you tried to reinstall it?
- if you had problems from there, did you try uninstalling it in safe mode?
- have you disabled all background programs (virus scanners) while doing above
