I realize from one of your other threads that you're a novice at this, and I
don't know what other software packages you have, but honestly, I would
totally advise against using WordArt anywhere in the page. 1. It's very
generic. Everyone's used it at some time, mostly in Word. 2. It's ugly.
Sure it may look cool when it starts, but it gets old quickly. 3. It's hard
to manage. Especially in web pages. I'd recommend to create a text picture
in something like Photoshop, and port that in. Then you won't have to deal
with the underlining problem, or any of the doctype confusion.

And most importantly, 4. It's not supported on Macs or in any browser other
than IE.

Oh yes, 4. I forgot about 4. How could I have forgotten about 4? Oh well...
while I'm here, have a 5.

5. The options are extremely limited. How many WordArt styles are there,
40 tops? While in Photoshop you can customize everything from transparency
to texture and back again, not to mention all the hundreds of fonts. I mean,
I'm using an ancient Photoshop 6.0 (yeah I know... It's sad. I want CS2,
since this thing machine is Vista capable, but the beancounters say they
can't afford it) and I created the perfect title graphic for the site. I
even create my own buttons in there.

Hope you're still listening, sugarbabe.

I basically just want words with a different coloured outline. all inside a
box what would be a good simple program to use.

Photoshop. Open a new graphic, type your text in the color and font you
want. Then you go to Layer -> Layer Properties -> Blending Options. Click
the Outer Glow box, and edit the options in there until you're happy with it.
Play around with the other options if you feel up to it, might make it even
cooler. Once you're done, go with File -> Save For Web, and choose the
option to make the background transparent. Finish saving and you're done.
Simple, no?

Use CSS. It's lead pipe simple. For example, this rule -

p { border:1px solid red; background-color:gray; }

will give all paragraphs on the page a gray background color, and a thin,
red border

I don't recommend using word art, but if you must take a screen shot.

Press Print Screen or Prn Scr on the keyboard.. open up any graphic editor
and press paste (nothing happens till you do) and your screen shot will
appear.. cut the word art out and introduce a underline bar. This way you
get all yoru graphic together and avoid using the horrible code it
generates...

However as the others say there are far better ways of making logos.

Hi redemption2,

Photoshop is an outstanding imaging/graphics type of program (probably the
best there is) It might be more than many people need though for creating
some simple effects. (Not to mention the price tag and learning curve)

many other choices available that can do some things like that for far less
money.

PaintShop, Elements, PhotoImpact..to name a few.
