FrontPage shuts down for no reason

Guest

I'm using FrontPage 2002. Strange...when I click on a certain part of several
of my Web pages, FrontPage shuts down...no warning, no error message,
nothing. It doesn't happen for the whole page, just when I click on a
certain area of the page. Does anyone have any idea of what's happening and
what I can do about it? Thanks.

Any hint on what this "certain area" might contain??

A link, an image, text, a JavaScript event??

At any rate, here's something to try.
Go here: http://www.95isalive.com/fixes/fpclean.htm and download FP Cleaner.
Run the functions that clear the FrontPage Temporary files and the
Cache(.web) files.

See if there's a difference.

I don't remember in all cases what was near the area, but in this latest one,
it's on an image. I deleted everything above the image, clicked in the area,
and FP didn't shut down. Weird.

I went to the site you suggested, but the buttons didn't work. I'm OK for
now and will come back if I notice this happening again...which I know it
will.

Thanks.

I went to the site you suggested, but the buttons didn't work.

You have to download FP Cleaner to your computer and then run it.
It's an executable file.
The download links are at the bottom of the page.

Duh... Let there be no doubt what the user should do. They need to put
reference to the download info at the top for people like me. I'll try it.

You mean a reference like this one that is on the page under the screenshot
of the program?

Correct. I didn't scroll. Saw the button and clicked. Normally a page will
put instructions at the top, not the bottom. Think about it.

I had to go to CNET to find out what ROFL meant (I don't chat). Me too. I
can't believe I did that. What was I thinking!? I guess it's too much New
Year's cheer. This will be one you'll put in the books and will be on the
techsupport jokes list. Don't tell anybody...
