FrontPage Server Extensions

Allan Cammish

Dear all

I have the FrontPage extensions installed on my web-site which is
hosted by a company. The extensions are working fine, however, now I
no-longer want to use FrontPage as the web authoring tool and want to
be able to just use an FTP program to upload files, or the upload
feature in DreamWeaver. Unfortunately, the FTP updates do not work
since the FrontPage extensions were installed.

Can I just have the extensions removed? or is there a utility I can
use which would allow me to upload and delete files which uses the
FrontPage extensions method, then I could have the option of keeping
the FrontPage extensions installed.
This would be a useful utility to write if someone has the time and
ability!

Cheers

Allan Cammish.

Contact your host to see if they will remove the extensions and set up a FTP
account for you.

Hi Allan,

They can be removed, however any functionality that relied upon them will be lost, e.g., form posting, etc.

you can upload with whatever you like - an FTP program shouldn't care if the fp
extensions are there or not. Perhaps there is a conflict with Dreamweavers
publish feature, I don't know.

You'll need to ask the host to uninstall them, unless they provide a 'control
panel' of some sort for your account where you can do everything like that
through a web-based interface.
