It seems that to properly view some of the functions built into my web pages (e.g. search function) on my local HD, I need to install the FrontPage serve extensions. Where do I get them from?

Thanks,

Clem.

If you are running Windows XP Pro, then you need to install IIS under Add/Remove Programs / Windows
Components

If you are running Windows XP Home, there is no support for the extensions or any MS web server.

Thomas:

Thank you for your reply.

I have xp home installed, but I have (legal) installation discs (disc 1, os; disc 2, diagnostic tools) for xp pro. Can I install *just* IIS, or do I have to install the whole os?

If the answer is "whole os," then am I likely to lose many important settings/prior program installations?

If the answer is "just IIS," then how do I do it?

Thank you!

You have to install the entire Windows XP Pro. However Windows XP Pro should prompt you to allow it
to upgrade Windows XP Home, thereby keeping current settings, etc.
