Frontpage on apache issues

Joe

I have windows xp home, and I am running apahce webserver. I can't
add IIS on here, and the FP Server Extensions will not install,
because its not IIS? How can I get the hit counter to work in Apache?
I don't want to hide it, but I would like to see how many people are
viewing it.

I am having another issue.

I am trying to password protect some pages. When I put the passwords
in the first time they work, the next I go to the site, either by IE
or using the Preview on Frontpage, it fails.

I am new to apache server, trying to get my skills past the desktop
support relm, and trying to learn more about webservers.. Can you
help me with these questions??

1. The hit counter requires the FP extensions. Under Windows XP Home you have no support for any MS
web server nor the ability to install the FP extensions.

2. FP extensions are available for Apache running under Unix or Linux OSs.

3. As far a setting passwords, the is issue you will have to deal with via an Apache newsgroup, as
it is not related to FP.

If you really want to use the extensions locally, you need to upgrade to Windows XP Pro and install
IIS and the FP extensions.

For setting pass words on an Apache/UNIX, open the web masters control panel and then select the Web
Protect feature.
