Frontpage Hit Counter

I have a Windows 2003 Server running IIS with Frontpage 2002 Server
extensions enabled. When I insert components into my web page, the hover
button and marquee will work but when I try a hit counter it just says "Hit
Counter" and a box with a red x. Any suggestions? Thanks.

The hit counter is a CGI executable. Windows 2003 has a new security model
that will disable certain functionality by default. Try enabling the CGI
support in Win 2003 and see if that helps.

Just an FYI, don't use hover buttons. At all. They are little Java applets
and, honestly, hardly anyone has a java virtual machine (JVM) installed
nowadays. If a visitor doesn't have a JVM they're not going to see any
buttons. Best to use an image swap effect to swap between two images instead
of the hover buttons.

Hope this helps,

I'm not using the hover buttons on my site just testing the components since
the counter wouldn't work. Enabling CGI didn't help. Publishing didn't
help. Not sure where to look now.

I would check in the Windows server newsgroups. Win2003 has extremely tight
security. It could be URL Scan issues needing adjustment, also.
