FrontPage and folders that begin with "_"

Paul,

When you place a non .mdb directly in the fpdb folder, FP will not set the
permissions on the file.

If you manually (not created by FP) create a fpdb folder, and do not have a
..mdb or global.asa file in your web or have not uses the Tools | Web
Settings | Database function, then FP will not set the permissions on the
fpdb folder.

I think the question was not phrased correctly. One of the problems I
am having is when I make a folder to place files that will get
permissions that allow asp code to create, modify and delete files, FP
will reset the permissions back to their defaults. I think it is done
by my WPP support when they check the site with a tool of some kind.
They insist it is not them, and I am doing it. It is similar to what
the "tighten security" of Health Check does.
Any way, I am asking if there is a folder that FP makes somewhere
(like it does for .mdb files and fpdb) that gives these permissions to
the files in it and won't reset the permission back to the defaults
when a "tighten security" Health Check is done. This way I won't be
constantly losing the ability to work with these files.

FP only maintain permissions on two folders, _private and fpdb, and when you
set permission via the OS, and run Server Health / Check on Extensions, the
permissions are reset to the FP defaults.
