I have tried to build a website it looks good and works all but the links. I was wondering if there is a way to hyperlink to from a gif to an .exe .zip files because I need the gif to be clicked and then prompt you to download the file. Not time the page loads everything just pops up. I also have already designed the page with gifs I just need to link them. I have also used Frontpg.exe regedit to make FrontPage and IE7 compatible but links don't work. I don't want people to have to right click that just takes to long just click and boom done. I have also gotten over 300 complaints about Firefox not working is there a plug-in for that? I am running a XP Home system and have Office 2007 Enterprise Edition (wonder why FP did not come with it) and FrontPage 2003.My job switched to Ubuntu so I have to host my own site now since I use FP. Help!!

1) Exe files will always throw security errors
- make them all zips
Just create a hyperlink from your gif image to the zip file

Because FrontPage has been discontinued and replace with Expression Web.

Yeah I made them all .rar files and I took the FP supplied item made it a
gif with transparent background (tried to make it look as close to Vista as
possible) now when I go to link the file on the interactive button it has
button text and the next line is link. should the link be: Programs/Website
like it is on my HDD or should it be
http://70.125.78.162:535/index.htm/Programs/Website/ Should I use
/ or \ I thought I would simply create a folder (holding place) for the
"raw files" and browse to that folder and select the link using the link
that way letting FP work everything out when I published the site I assumed
it would follow the links and upload all the files. I was using the layout
or structure from

I tend to follow a model like this one step by step. Once I have (thought)
everything was linked I preview and nothing. I look at reports all gif not
linked I relink them nothing.......

How can I tell relative links from absolute links can I turn them off or on
which is best. I have always followed the old MS-DOS style C:\windows\on and
on and on which has worked but I guess not with web pages

I found the solution to Firefox the people where using an outdated browser
and I had spaces which left 20% mess so Linux had a hard time as well.

You need to first create a folder (ex. MyWeb, not index.htm), then open that folder in FP, and let
FP make it a web / site, then you either create all content within this folder from within FP or you
import the content into this folder via FP prior to using it on pages created in FP.

Once you are done, then you can use FP to publish the site to your web host or remote server. Use
FP's http mode if publishing to a server that has the FP server extensions, if not then use FP's FTP
mode.

programs, music, pictures, videos etc. Now do the folders that contain the
pictures (not site images) music and etc need to be webs or just folders?

You need to first create a folder (ex. MyWeb, not index.htm), then open
that folder in FP, and let FP make it a web / site, then you either create
all content within this folder from within FP or you import the content
into this folder via FP prior to using it on pages created in FP.

Once you are done, then you can use FP to publish the site to your web
host or remote server. Use FP's http mode if publishing to a server that

You need to create a single folder and then open it in FP and let FP make it a web / site, then with
this web / site open in FP, create any additional folders and pages. FP will automatically create a
"images" and "_private" folder with in this web / site.

Import your images or music files into the current open FP web / site via FP import command, then
link to them.

If the user's browser understand the file format, then the file will be opened or launched. To be
sure that the file will always prompt for a download, make sure it is a zip file, then all you need
to do in any html application, is create a link to the file from either text or a image.

problem solved Microsoft Expression Web is worth its money in gold. Works
perfectly! I know I was doing it right sort of. I am so glad they did not
loose the feel of FrontPage 2003 but added a whole new seems like AI. My
site should be up in weeks not months now.
