Hi,

Using FP 2003, I usually change pages on my c: drive and then publish
to my web domain using the "local to remote" publish option. But now I
have a form that writes to another htm file when input is provided.
Thus it will write to my online htm file but of course not to my c:
drive.

I'm assuming that if I use local->remote publishing that I will
overwrite my new online data received from the form.

Net, any advice on the best way to proceed?

I though of hitting don't publish beside this htm file and still using
"local to remote", but what if I change on my c:/ drive other parts of
the form file and want to publish the changes but not lose form input.

- How will synchronize handle this?
Advice appreciated

Sorry if question is confusing.

you could right click the local version of the file the input gets saved to
and select "do not publish", the it won't get overwritten for sure.

the file _should_ be in the _private folder, so if you mark it do not
publish it won't affect the form just the "save" file.

If you follow the above it'll be fine.
btw; what you can do to get the info from the server back down to your local
machine is open the live web ie file/ open site/ type in the http://
address of the server based web, find that file in the _private folder,
right click and select "publish selected files". browse to your local
version of the web in question and let it fly. that way you'll have a local
copy of the form input.

HTH

In folder view right click the local copy the file used to write the results to and select "Don't
publish."

FrontPage will then "not" publish it to the server when you publish.

Also, unless you are opening the form via http://localhost on your local machine, which means you
have to be running Windows 2000 Pro or Windows XP Pro, you can not test any function locally that
requires the run-time FP extensions.
