FrontPage 2003 Crashes immediately upon being run

FrontPage 2003 loads, for about two seconds, then it disappears. I can't
find any errors in the log file. I've tried using Add and Remove Programs to
fix the installation, as well as uninstall and reinstall it. It worked for
one day. After I installed the update
(Office2003SP1-kb842532-fullfile-enu.exe), it no longer worked. It's either
some problem with the update, or my best guess is that I have disabled some
service or part of the program that must load at boot time.

I would greatly appreciate it, if some one could name any programs that must
be in the msconfig.exe Startup tab, as well as all of the services that are
necessary for FrontPage 2003 to run.

I should have already found that, but I seem to have some trouble navigating
through the help and support that is available. Thank you for the
suggestion. Unfortunately, none of the three suggested fixes solved my
problem. My search found no cmdUI.prf file. The only files with ".web" were
also .dll, so I did not delete them. I felt that the added extension would
have been mentioned, if that is what they meant to remove. I deleted the
registry entry for FrontPage (as described in the FAQ), but the problem
persisted.

Your Windows Explorer setting are hiding known file types and system file types
(Windows Explorer Tools Folder Options File Types)

Have you tried the usual repairs in the sequence below:
1) In Windows Explorer Find and delete all FP Temp Files
Usually in C:\WINDOWS\Temp and %USERPROFILE%\Local Settings\Temp
- in FP 2003 you need to look in the super hidden folder
%USERPROFILE%\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\FrontPageTempDir
2) In Windows Explorer Find and delete all hidden *.web files
Usually in %USERPROFILE%\Application Data\Microsoft\Web Server Extensions\Cache
3) Run a Repair on IE
(see http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=318378 )
4) Install all Service Packs for your OS, IE, MS Office and your Video card
(Windows Update and Office Update sites, plus your video card supplier site)
5) Find and delete the cmdui.prf
Usually in %USERPROFILE%\Application Data\Microsoft\FrontPage\State

Has this problem been solved? I have the exact same situation and could not
make FP2k3 to load. I use XP with SP2.

Did you allow it to search in hidden files and folders?
