FrontPage 2002 not responding - AT ALL!

C

I received a copy of FrontPage 2002 from Microsoft for
completing an extensive online survey of IT
professionals. I was happy to help and I've done this
before.

However, I have installed FrontPage and it does not
respond at all. It opens and it registered online, but
when I try to do anything whatsoever, it stops responding
and I have to close it. Closing it brings up the "Send
Report" box which sends the report and then takes me to
the Office Update screen. That screen tries to download
SP-1. My Office XP Pro is already updated to SP-2 plus
the individual updates that followed SP-2.

I tried FrontPage support and clicked the online support
option. That one told me that my product ID
(54196751500166316751) is INELIGIBLE for online
support. ??? Say what?

I'm running Windows XP (also received directly from MS
for an earlier survey) and it is fully updated. There
seems to be conflict somewhere between XP and Office XP,
XP and FrontPage 2002, or Office XP and FrontPage 2002.

HELP! I need to work on my website.

1) Even though your MSO XP is at SP2, the FP you installed needs to be upgraded to SP1 & SP2 (using the MSO XP SP's which are also
for FP2002)
Recommend you uninstall FP, and reinstall it (make sure you turn off all background programs including virus scanners), then reapply
MSO SP1 & SP2
If you go to Office Updates the site should do it for you

If you still have problems try the usual repairs
1) In Windows Explorer Find and delete all FP Temp Files
2) In Windows Explorer Find and delete all hidden *.web files
3) In Windows Explorer Find and delete the file CMDUI.PRF
4) Disable or Uninstall any FP Addins
5) Run a Repair / Reinstall on IE
6) Install all Service Packs for your OS, IE, and MS Office (Windows Update)

That's all fine except FrontPage is already SP-2.

Reading the newsgroups, especially over at Office XP, I
see there are dozens of people having problems with
Office Update. I'll wait for Microsoft to sort out their
problem.
