Hi - does anyone know what version of FrontPage this would correlate to:

Microsoft FrontPage Client - English Version 7.00.9209

All I find on MS web site for versions is:
FrontPage 97 Standard
FrontPage 98 Standard
FrontPage 2000 Standard
FrontPage 2002 Standard
FrontPage 2003

Thanks!

Well - I got the Front Page information from our inventory system ... so I
connected to one of the clients it identified as having this version. It is
XP SP2. The strange thing is ... when I go to Program Files, I see microsoft
frontpage directory with a version 3.0 subfolder and then a bin folder.
Inside the bin folder are 4 files ... fp98sadm.exe; fp98swin.exe;
fpsrvadm.exe and fpsrvwiwn.exe. Based on the file name I'm now guessing this
is some version of FP 98 ... but all I find are the 4 files! If this was a
"one off" I'd just dismiss as an anomolie -- but our inventory found this
"version" on over 1,000 clients! Could it be a runtime or something along
those lines??

Michelle,

That folder is part of the Windows OS, it does not contain a useable version of FrontPage, nor can
it be deleted. Just disregard it.

Hmmm - we have over 30,000 desktop/laptops in our environment ... with 99.5%
of them being XP SP2 ... if this is part of the OS, any thoughts on why it
would only appear on 1,500 or so devices?

Was XP installed on all of them using the same image?
Did the IT department slipstream SP1 and or SP2 into an image used to install the OS?

The C:\Program Files\microsoft frontpage\version3.0\bin on my XP Pro SP2 machine contains zero files.
So, if you're inventorying machines and the bin on them is empty, there's not any version info to detect.

Yes, the same XP OS image was used for all the devices ... and then SP was
added via SWD GPO to all of them. As far as I know, no slipsteam was used...

So - as I've been digging further into this - the clients that are reported
as having this version don't appear to have any version installed ... Nothing
on Start Menu; nothing in Add/Remove Programs. Someone mentioned they
thought it might be related to the clients having .NET Visual Studio
installed ... which seems to be a consistent component across the devices
I've looked at so far.

Can anyone here confirm if the .NET Visual Studio installation would
populate the default c:\Program Files\Microsoft Frontpage\version3.0\bin
directory with some files?

Thanks!

Some releases/versions of the MS Office Suite will also add files to this folder.

You might also want to post to the Windows newsgroup.
