Front page Guestbook

Tushar

When I upload my guest book to a webserver and try to type in a message
and click on the submit button , I get the following error...

FrontPage Run-Time Component Page
You have submitted a form or followed a link to a page that requires a
web server and the FrontPage Server Extensions to function properly.

This form or other FrontPage component will work correctly if you
publish this web to a web server that has the FrontPage Server
Extensions installed.

Click the <Back> arrow to return to the previous page.

Wht is the problem?? Pls make my guestbook working. I have spent many
days on this problem and I am stuck with it.

Does your host (remote server) have the FrontPage Server Extensions
installed? (extensions are required for the guestbook.)

Did you upload via http publishing or ftp? (http publishing is required to a
host with the FP extensions installed.)

Well, The server has the FP server Extensions but still it is not
working!....any way, I just thought of getting the following verified
from you. This is the process that I used to make my guestbook. Pls see
if the process is faulty somewhere.

1) clicked on new > more page templates> guest book.
2) The guestbook form is displayed. I right click on the form and got
to "form properties" and fill in my email address. The file name text
box has "guestlog.htm" written in it. then I click ok.
3) now I go to new > new website> one page website and click ok.
4) then i save the guestbook form in this new one page website. Thsi
new webpage website shows me _private folder and few other folders.
the file called "guestlog.htm" is not in the _private folder but
outside it ( at the same directory level where the guest form is
saved).
5) then I upload all the folders, the guestbook form and the
guestlog.htm to the server.
6) I then access the guestbook form successfully through the internet.
7) But again when I try to type in something and click submit button,
it shows me that error.

Have I created the guestbook correctly...esp the one page website
thing? Are the guestbook forma nd guestlog.htm saved in the correct
places?

Will appreciate if u could verifiy if the procedure I have followed is
correct or not.
Thanks.

All front page Server Extensions are loaded on the server. I for got to
mention this in my last reply.

Ok, but you must publish the web to the server using FP's File Menu | Publish Web / Site to
http://www.public.asu.edu/~tchandra/

Any other method and the form will not work. Also since you have added an email address, the
extensions on the server must be configure by the Admin. to process the form or you will also get
that error message.

You can do a google search and find lots of guestbooks that do NOT
require frontpage extensions.

The server does not have the FP SE,so you can't use any of the FP SE run time components
See http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;828909 and
