I installed office xp and trying to open an old pst file that I saved with
my old outlook 2000 (office 2000 pro) it opens aa personal folder but no
data in it nothing in the inbox and non of my old folders are there
what could be the problem?

Did you search for any and all files with a .pst extension? Outlook's
default .pst file is a hidden file - if you are using Windows 2000 or XP,
you will need to turn on searching hidden/system files and folders.

After a lot of head-scratching, Henry asked:

Tell us how you saved this file and where its backup is.

I backed up my old outlook 2000 and it created an backup1.pst file
now after I installed the office xp I'm trying to open it but no luck

Then you didn't back it up. The only safe way to back up a PST file is to
create a copy of it.
Do you still have access to your original file?

No
but the file is large so I believe that it is backed up
Is there a compatibility issue Outlook 2k and xp

I did not create a profile yet with Outlook xp
right after I installed it and opened it the first time I tried to open the
pst file and it did not work

There is no compatibility issue between Outlook 2000 and 2002. I have no
idea how you backed up this file. Tell us.
