From address not filled out when replying to a msg

there is only one mail account, its Outlook 2000 and its stand alone.

when ever the user replied (and on new msgs i think) the from address is
blank and he has to type in his email address.

I once saw this from a "send on behalf" but i cant find the info on that
again and im not so sure that is the case because he isnt part of the
Exchange system.

any ideas?
 
That's normal and expected behavior. There is no reason for a standalone user to type an address into the From field unless they want the message to appear to be sent "on behalf of" an address other than the one associated with the sending account. The user will probably be happier if you show them how to turn off the From field.

Thanks, didnt have a copy of 2000 to look at, it was a remote client.
