Freqvent stop and go problem

Lately I experience freqvent hang ups. It does not mater what I am doing
system will stop for about 30 second and then start again. Sometimes it will
work for hours without hang up, next time will hang up at loading Windows.
Any sugestions?

I had a similar problem after upgrading to XP SP2.

Look at the event viewer and see if you have any errors there. Mine turned
out to be something trying to register with DCOM and it kept timing out.

I couldn't get any help, so I eventually gave in and reinstalled everything.
Now it's ok.
