Thanks Guys, My ISP reported that they are working on some routing problems
and that could be the reason for defender from time to time not been able to
connect as engel pointed out. I did dowload the defenitions which also
started
to be out of date.

Your are welcome Andre.

Andre --

I have received something simular to your message about the MpTelemetry in
the Reports & Soln's. See below for the complete report. I noticed that my
computer downloaded the same Windows Defender KB915597 (Definition I) twice.
The first time on 9/4 and the 2nd time on 9/6. That's when I started to run
into problems with my computer. I had to reboot, then it hung up and I had
to select whether or not I wanted to boot in the "Safe mode" or "Normal"
Windows.
I think that this update is the crux of my problem, could something simular
be happening with your computer??

Hello, sorry if this is unrelated but I googled mptelemetry and "windows
defender command line utility" and this thread was the only one I found with
a good discussion. This enquiry is on behalf of a friend whose PC runs Vista.
He has never had the PC connected to the internet and it came, new, from a
supplier in England with vista installed.
He mentioned that he was getting error/warning messages. Whilst looking at
his PC I found the "report problems" section of 'Vista' and there is a large
number of error messages concerning the above dating back to 19/04/2008. I DO
NOT know vista AT ALL but was wondering if this is a problem that needs
fixing or if it is something he should live with.
If it is something that needs fixing could someone talk me through it please?
I haven't, as yet, found out how to find the contents of any error message
listed in the 'reported problems', is there a way and if so would the
contents of such a message be useful?

Sean - I don't know what I was thinking when I wrote the other response from
me that I see on this thread.

It is quite possible that what your friend is seeing is entirely normal.
Vista reports a great many problems that the user may not even be aware of.
It also, occasionally, gives a response to these reports that is helpful in
removing the problem.

Your friends should run Windows Update (ideally, accept the choice to
upgrade to Microsoft Update)--and install all updates offered. He should
re-check for updates until no new ones are offered.

I wouldn't worry about those problem reports, but I would keep sending
them--they are getting problems fixed.
