Frequent Dial-Up Internet Disconnects

I am working on a desktop computer that disconnects from
the internet roughly 30 seconds after connecting(dial-up
connection). I am typing this on a laptop that is
connected through the same phone line to the same ISP and
this laptop does not disconnect until it is told to. I
have compared the settings between the desktop and the
laptop and they are identical. I can see no reason for
the desktop to disconnect like it does. I have
uninstalled and reinstalled the modem driver and redid
the internet connection about 3 times now. I am really
getting frustrated with this desktop. And yes the
desktop is not set to disconnect when idle and *70, is
used to disable call waiting. Please help. Thank you.
