freezing

Please Help
I have a 1 year old intel p4 running windows xp service pack 2
When i click on the icons on my desktop it freezes up and i cannot get into
my computer or program files. I'm very limited on what i can do. It works
fine on safe mode.
This is the message i get (Dr Watson Postmortem Debugger has encountered a
problem and has to close)
I ran Adaware Spybot Norton 2005 with no luck.
Any help on this matter would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

have u installed any new hardware or upgraded a Driver etc ?
if not , u might want to try restoring your Computer to an Earlier Point
where ur pc was'nt encountring any problems for more info check this web

also , u might want to open your even viewer to check what application is
causing your pc to freeze ...
