Freezes and Mulitcolored Geometry

Hello Microsoft:
I have recenty purchesed a number of new games for my PC. Two of these are Secret Weapons over Normandy and the Other is Homeworld 2. I am currently experienceing problems which center around video issues. I have a Nvidia GeForce 4 Ti4600. 768mb of DDRam. I have played these games recently without any ill effects. Perfect operation. However just this recent week I sat down to play SWON. The menues worked fine as well as all the movies. The problem is when I get into gameplay. There are what appears to be multicolored seems in my geometry as well as long freezes in play. I am always able to get out of the programs but it does take some time. I have tried all the normal stuff to fix these problems but none seem to work. (Reinstall, defrag, new drivers for video, system restore, Norton Windoctor, DiskDoctor and a good review of my Device Manager.) I have also sent an email to Lucasarts to see if they have any ideas of my problem. It's not just one game it all of the games that have a 3D environment and use wireframe models. I will attach a copy of my DirectX so that you can look at it if need be.

Hi Jeff,

I don't work at Microsoft, but I noticed the following in your DX Diagnostic:

"The registry information for the DirectPlay application 'Panzer General 3' is
missing or damaged. You should reinstall that application. The registry information
for the DirectPlay application 'Shogo' is missing or damaged. You should reinstall
that application"

You have 2 choices: 1) Restore your computer back to the date when those two
games worked: How to use Windows XP System Restore:

2) Use these steps to reinstall your games:
Here's how to properly install or reinstall a game (and patch):

Step A: Temporarily disable Startup programs one at a time, starting with
Firewall, Antivirus & AdBlockers using this method:

http://new.jtsoft2001.com/windows/startup.php Reboot, go to Step B.

Step B: In Control Panel / Add-Remove Programs, delete the game and then
the game's folder especially if you previously experienced problems
with a patch, or if you installed the Trial, Mods, NO CD patches, etc.

Note: Click Start to Search or Find your game. Many times there are two installs
of the same game on a system and the patch installs to the wrong one. Also if you
installed a Trial version of the game, this could be causing a conflict.. Uninstall it
and delete the folder.

Step C: Install and Run Regcleaner and if it finds any stray registry keys for the
game, delete them. Reboot your computer, and then re-install the game.

Step D: Play a single player game, using an administrators account if necessary.

Step E: Download new game patches or mods in case the old ones are corrupt.
Double click the patch/mod to install it. If it's a .zip file, unzip it into the

Step F: Reboot your computer, verify that your game is working properly, and
re-enable any programs that you disabled using the method in Step A.

Hi Jimmy S., sorry about the Mirosoft thing. Tried all your advice, much graditude to you. However my listed programs are still experiencing the same problems. Ran Direct X Dio again and the mentioned problems were gone. I'll keep trying but if you have any other ideas please please share them with me. Thanks again.

Hi J Blount,

A couple of additional suggestions based on your dxdiag would be:

1. Your page file seems too large.
Allow Windows to control your pagefile at a "system managed size", and be
sure there's enough space for the pagefile size to = 1.5 * your RAM as per:
