freeze slide

new to muilti-media trying to see if there is a way to freeze a slide to the
projector,and work or browse slides on the desk top without the viewers
seeing what I am doing on the projection screen.My projector is out of range
for its remote.Thank you for any help you can give.

Yes - if your computer graphics card supports 'extended desktop' (where each
monitor work as one large monitor). With the computer set up for extended
desktop output, in PPT go to SLIDESHOW >> SET UP SHOW >> in the multiple
monitor section select "VIEW ON SECONDARY MONITOR"

Now when in show mode the presentation will be on the projector and your
monitor will show the edit view of the presentation. Be sure to expirment
with this mode before the meeting as it can throw some confusion into things
:)
