Freeze during boot up

Recently my PC starting shutting down whilst I was using it - usually during
games. Now it has started freezing at the log in screen. I have tried lots
of different ways to boot it up inc using the Recovery CD, Safe Mode, Command
Prompt, Start up Disks. Using the Recovery CD the screen freezes as soon as
it gets to the starting to load windows prompt. I have tried booting and
switching off automatic reboot after failure however I have only had one
information screen the rest of the time it freezes at the login screen. The
one STOP screen I have seen is listed below.

DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL
***STOP: 0x000000D1 (0xFB0AFFA8, 0x00000002, 0x00000001, 0xEEAF4BFE)
***naiavf5x.sys - Address EEAF4BFE base at EEAE3000, Datestamp 42ae0eb6

I am running Win XP Home on an AMD Athlon XP+2000 with 512MB Ram and ATI
Radeon 9700 Graphics Card.

I suspect I have a graphics card problem as all the freezes and shutdowns
are either when the screen is switching into a different mode or during game
play.

I have reseated all the cards and checked connections etc. Used ASUS Probe
to check Temps/Volts etc all ok.

Anyone any thoughts/ideas/fixes.
