Hi,

Is there any freeware has the capability to register MAC
for client ip addresses under Microsoft DHCP Server
before releasing and register ip addresses for the client.

Not that I know of. If you can tell the group what you are trying to
accomplish maybe someone can help. --- Steve

Sorry if it not detail enough.

Is there any way that I can block unknown MAC addresses
using DHCP server or other third part software?

I know that i can use DHCP with Static mappings. It can
be done by only assigning IP addresses to known MAC
addresses, but is they any other alternatives.....

I don't know of anyhting that will work directly with DHCP other than
creating reservations as you mention. Not getting an IP address in itself is
not a reliable security method on a network. The use of ipsec policies
[W2K/XP Pro/W2003 only] or switches that use mac filtering and/or 802.1x
authentication are ways to secure a network to unathorized computer access.
Mac filtering can be done at the port level and many affordable switches can
"memorize" current mac addreses for a port and not allow access for any
other mac address. Of course this is not 100 percent secure. 801.1X
authentication is very secure but requires compatible client software,
computer certificates, and the use of an IAS/radius server. --- Steve
