Free Space Discrepancy

I'm using Win2K. Why is it on the defrag window my free space is still 14.978 GBytes. But on the explorer (drive properties), my free space is only 14.5 GBytes. Is this normal? If not, what happened to my computer & can anyone suggest what's happening and what to do
